Overnight Mooring, Fishing and Boats
We have six private moorings at the end of our garden. These are free to use provided boat owners make use of the The Trout Inn's dining facilities, otherwise there is a £20.00 overnight mooring fee.
The Moorings are greatly sought after during the summer and can be reserved in advance if you make a lunch or dinner reservation. Please make sure you arrive early to ensure you get a mooring.
Whilst we do not yet have our own boat, we can recommend the following company should you wish to hire a boat for the day.
Swan at Radcot - Telephone 01367 810161
We have the use of a small electric punt, which is perfect for pootling along the river with a glass of something chilled. Delicious picnic hampers can be provided.
Located on the banks of the River Thames, The Trout Inn has access to a beat within 100 yards. Plenty of coarse fishing such as Barbel, Chubb, Roach and Bream, there is a good head of Pike. Recent catches have seen Barbel at over 10lb.
A few of our favourite fishing jokes (as told by the locals - don't blame us).
Two Oxfordshire men go fishing. They catch a lot of fish and return home. First man: "I hope you remembered the spot where we caught all those fish". Second man: "Yes, I made an 'X' on the side of the boat to mark the spot" First man: "You idiot! How do you know we'll get the same boat".
God says to Noah "You've been fishing all day and you've only caught two fish?" Noah to God: "Yeah, well I only had two worms..."
One man became obsessed by fishing. One Sunday, early in the morning, he went to the river, as usual. It was cold and raining and he decided to return back to his house. He came in, went to his bedroom, undressed and said to his wife "what terrible weather darling" She replied: "Yes and my husband is out fishing in it too".
