Dining at the Trout
One of the main reasons to visit is the high standard of cuisine and service offered. Daily changing specials with an emphasis on fish, shellfish and local game attract a large local following.
Great emphasis is placed on the quality and source of ingredients and local producers feature strongly. We have daily supplies of fish and shellfish from the Cornish ports, local shoots provide us with a plentiful supply of game birds. Our pork and bacon is supplied locally by Chris Maughan at Kelmscott, his free range pork has a wonderful flavour and is a big hit with our guests.
Local fishermen supply us with rainbow and brown trout and fruit, herbs and vegetables come from local estates and farms.
Our Head Chef Pascal Clavaud is an experienced professional who has gained experience in some of the finest kitchens in the UK.
There are several areas to dine at The Trout; the flagstone bar area with its log burners offers traditional seating and bags of character. Whereas the non-smoking dining room has views over the garden and offers comfort of the highest level.
In summer dining ‘al fresco’ in our riverside garden is a much sought after venue. In the bar we always have a selection of cask ales available, three in winter and four in the summer.
